CalcCottage is committed to making our free calculators usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technology. This statement explains what we have done, our standard, and how to reach us if you encounter a barrier.
Our standard
We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This is the standard referenced by U.S. Department of Justice guidance and most accessibility regulation worldwide.
What is in place
- Semantic HTML throughout, including labelled form controls on every calculator input.
- Live result regions announced to screen readers using
role="status"andaria-live="polite". - Keyboard-operable inputs and results — every calculator works without a mouse.
- Visible focus indicators on inputs and links.
- Sufficient color contrast between text and background (the cream/green palette meets WCAG AA for normal body text).
- Responsive layout with no horizontal scrolling at standard mobile widths.
- Plain-English explanations of every calculator result, not just a number.
- No reliance on motion, sound, or time-based interaction.
Known limitations
We are aware of and actively working on improvements to heading hierarchy on certain page types. If you encounter a barrier we have not listed, please tell us so we can fix it.
Feedback
If any part of CalcCottage is hard to use with your assistive technology, or you would like content in a different format, please contact us through the contact page. We will respond within 5 business days and work with you to provide the information by another means.
Ongoing review
This statement was last reviewed on May 20, 2026. Accessibility is an ongoing process; we test new calculators against our standard before publishing and review the site as a whole on a regular cadence.
