# Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 13, 2026

CalcCottage (“CalcCottage”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the website calccottage.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from you when you visit the Site, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

We’ve tried to write this in plain English. Where we need to use legal or technical terms, we follow them with a short summary in italics.

1. Who We Are and How to Contact Us

CalcCottage is a sole-proprietor publisher based in Queens, New York, United States. For any privacy-related question or request, you can reach us at:

  • Email: merajprovat2332@gmail.com
  • Mail: CalcCottage, Queens, NY 11423, United States

For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR, CalcCottage is the data controller of personal data collected through this Site.

Plain English: We run this Site, we decide what data is collected and why, and you can email us at the address above if you have questions or want to exercise your rights.

2. Information We Collect

We collect three categories of information:

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you contact us by email or (in the future) through a contact form or newsletter signup, we receive whatever you choose to send us — typically your name, email address, and the contents of your message.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, our hosting provider and our analytics tools automatically collect:

  • Your IP address (truncated for analytics)
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Referring URL (the page that linked you here)
  • Pages you view on the Site and time spent
  • Approximate location (country/region, derived from IP)
  • Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)

2.3 Information From Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and our third-party partners use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies. See Section 5: Cookies for the full list.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Operate, maintain, and secure the Site
  • Understand how visitors use the Site and improve our calculators and content
  • Display advertising, including personalized advertising where you have consented
  • Measure the performance of advertising and affiliate links
  • Respond to your messages and requests
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

Legal Bases (GDPR/UK GDPR)

If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK, we rely on the following legal bases under Article 6 GDPR:

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for non-essential cookies, personalized advertising, and analytics
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — for security logs, fraud prevention, and basic aggregated analytics
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — where we must retain or disclose information by law

Plain English: We use your data to run the Site, show ads where you’ve allowed them, answer your messages, and stay on the right side of the law.

4. Advertising (Google AdSense and Others)

CalcCottage displays advertising provided by Google AdSense and may in the future use ad networks such as Ezoic, Mediavine, or Raptive. These networks and their advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other websites.

Google’s DoubleClick DART Cookie

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses the DoubleClick DART cookie to serve ads to visitors of the Site based on your visits to calccottage.com and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings: https://adssettings.google.com/. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting https://www.aboutads.info/ or, for European users, https://www.youronlinechoices.eu/.

Vendor List

Google AdSense partners with a large number of advertising vendors. The current list is published by Google at https://support.google.com/admanager/answer/9012903. When the EU IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) is engaged through our consent banner, you can review and adjust your choices for each vendor.

Plain English: We show Google ads. Google uses cookies to figure out which ads to show you. You can turn off personalized ads at Google’s Ads Settings link above.

5. Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. We use the following categories:

5.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

Used for security, load balancing, and remembering your cookie preferences. These cannot be disabled.

5.2 Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregated traffic patterns. Analytics cookies record pages visited, session length, and device type. IP addresses are anonymized where supported.

5.3 Advertising Cookies

Set by Google AdSense and its advertising partners to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where you consent.

5.4 Affiliate Tracking Cookies

When you click an affiliate link (e.g., LendingTree, Credible, SoFi, SunPower), the affiliate network sets a cookie to attribute any resulting transaction to CalcCottage. These cookies do not identify you to us — they only signal that a referral originated here.

Managing Cookies

We use the Complianz consent management platform to obtain and record your cookie consent (GDPR and CCPA compliant). You can update or withdraw consent at any time by clicking the “Cookie Settings” link in our footer. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings.

6. Affiliate Relationships and Disclosures

CalcCottage participates in affiliate programs, including but not limited to LendingTree, Credible, SoFi, SunPower, and other financial-services and home-energy providers. When you click an affiliate link on the Site and complete a qualifying action (such as filling out a quote form or opening an account), CalcCottage may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

This affiliate relationship does not affect the accuracy of our calculators or the integrity of our editorial content. See our About page and Terms of Service for more on our editorial standards.

Plain English: Some links on this Site earn us a commission if you sign up. It doesn’t cost you anything extra and it doesn’t change what our calculators tell you.

7. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information in the traditional sense. However, the use of advertising cookies on the Site may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to opt out — see Section 9 below.

We share information with the following categories of recipients:

  • Hosting and infrastructure providers that operate our servers and CDN
  • Analytics providers (Google Analytics)
  • Advertising networks (Google AdSense and its certified vendors)
  • Affiliate networks (only the fact that a click originated from our Site)
  • Email providers if you contact us
  • Law enforcement or regulators where legally required

We do not share your information for any other purpose without your consent.

8. Data Retention

  • Analytics data: retained for 14 months in Google Analytics, after which it is automatically deleted
  • Server logs: retained for up to 30 days for security and troubleshooting
  • Email correspondence: retained for up to 24 months after the conversation ends, unless you request earlier deletion
  • Cookie consent records: retained for 12 months (Complianz default), as required to demonstrate compliance

9. Your Privacy Rights

9.1 If You Are in the EU, EEA, or UK (GDPR / UK GDPR)

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restrict processing
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority

To exercise these rights, email merajprovat2332@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9.2 If You Are in California (CCPA / CPRA)

You have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
  • Delete personal information we have collected
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Opt out of sale or sharing of personal information
  • Limit use of sensitive personal information (we do not collect sensitive personal info as defined by CPRA)
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your rights

To opt out, click the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in our footer or email us. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal — if your browser sends a GPC header, we treat it as an opt-out for the applicable session.

9.3 Do Not Track

We honor Do Not Track (DNT) signals for analytics where technically supported. For advertising, please use the GPC or the cookie consent banner, which are more reliable opt-out mechanisms.

10. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. International Data Transfers

CalcCottage is based in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the US, your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States. Where required by GDPR, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for transfers of EU/UK data.

12. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption, secure hosting, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Third-Party Links

The Site contains links to third-party websites, including affiliate partners. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage for at least 14 days. Your continued use of the Site after the update constitutes acceptance.

15. Contact Us

We respond to all privacy requests within 30 days.
